Most of the systems had a 3.0 rating due to low ratings for gaming of the integrated graphics (machine spec said 5000+ but properties said 5200+) Wanted to compare CPUs so went down to the local Best Buy and looked at the machines they had on display: Also I thought the raptor are the faster sata drivers out there, but it only scores 5.5 Processor: Core2Duo E6600 running at 2.79 GHz - 5.6 ![]() I don't know if this is a good or bad score for my laptop. I was a bit confused about the score for my cpu as i have found the 3.4gig ht chip has been scoring 5.6 which is a bit on a jump. I figure once I install this new card my score should go up quite a bit! We'll see how it goes.Īfter I get the score up I'll have to look into getting another monitor up here as well, I'm itching to try my hand in a dual screen setup, though two 19" CRTs will sure take up a lot of deskspace! I've gotta pick up a DVI to VGA converter tomorrow so I can use the car, my 19" VGA just won't fit into the DVI plug! I ordered two off Tiger Direct last week, but of course I ordered the wrong ones. This evening I installed 2 gigs of DDR2 4200 RAM, and so far it is flying! Hopefully tomorrow I'll be installing a nVidia GeForce 7900GS 256MB PCI-E x16 Video Card that I got off of a few weeks back, this weekend I also ordered a Seagate 250GB SATA Hard Drive refurb off of woot. Trying to run Photoshop and VIsual Studio 2k5, as well as a few RDP windows was very taxing on the box. So far Vista has worked out well with me for VS 2005, I even got a release out for last week that was completely written on this VISTA box. Overall it's been a pleasurable experience, unlike some of the other DotNetNuke core team members have had! Just over a week and a half ago I installed Windows Vista Ultimate RC1 on the newest of my desktop machines. One of the most important advantages of the program can be considered that, in addition to evaluating performance, it also allows you to assess the "balance" of the installed "iron".Base Score General Software Development Vista Windows Experience Index If you replace certain computer components, you can restart the test. ![]() The overall performance index is determined by the lowest value. For each of the ChrisPC components, the Win Experience Index scores on a scale from 1.0 to 9.9. The ChrisPC Win Experience Index tests the performance of the CPU (by estimating the maximum number of computation operations per second), the speed of the RAM (by estimating the number of operations per second), the performance of desktop graphics and graphics in the gaming environment, and the data transfer rate from the hard disk drive and solid state drive. With this index you can roughly estimate the total "power" of the PC and its individual components. Basically, it is a separate module "pulled" by Windows Vista and 7 developers, which was removed in later versions of the operating system from Microsoft. The ChrisPC Win Experience Index is a free application that serves to measure your computer's performance index. ![]()
